Band on Band: Hameer Zawawi
A singer-songwriter from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Hameer Zawawi writes and performs Indie Theatrical-Folk songs.
Within 4 years in Kuala Lumpur, Hameer has managed to perform for numerous Malaysian-based festivals including Penang Island Jazz Festival , Urbanscapes [2013, 2014], DiverseCity KL , Mercedes’ Urban Hunting Art & Music Festival , Yayasan Sime Darby Arts Festival , and was one of the headlining acts for Johor Bahru Arts Festival .
In March 2017, he had spent 3 months touring Europe and America having played featured solo acoustic shows in GER (Berlin, Cologne, Leipzig), the UK (London, Brighton, Glasgow) and the US (Los Angeles, Anaheim, New York City) with the highlight of his shows being at House of Blues (Anaheim), The Viper Room (LA) and Rockwood Music Hall (NYC). It was in June 2017, only 2 weeks after finishing his “round-the-world” tour that Hameer had started recording his EP “Plug Out The Machines” with NYC-based Recording Artists Development (RAD).
Within 3 and a half months since then, not only is the EP done and ready for release, Hameer has also gotten together a band and they’ve performed 3 successful shows at The Way Station (Brooklyn, NY), Sidewalk Cafe (East Village, NY) and Pianos (Lower East Side, NY). His most recent international festival appearance was at Brooklyn-based indie-festival For Us Fest . A mini-tour currently is in plans with band shows running from Long Island to Brooklyn, Harlem, Connecticut, Boston, and finally ending at The Bitter End (NYC) to promote his latest EP “Plug Out The Machines”.
