Band on Band: Bird Mancini

Since the dawn of time…or at least the dawn of “Boston Rock”…Somerville and Cambridge have been places for indie bands to perform the music that plays inside their heads and get it into the heads of listeners. So there we will be on Wednesday, March 22 at PA’s Lounge in Somerville. Got some brand new stuff from the upcoming CD (yes, we’re gonna put one out even though people are already forgetting what they are!) as well as songs from past CDs we think you’ll dig. We’ll be starting the night off at 8:30pm sharp for one set…followed by other cool bands: Thomas Knight, Bitter Magnolia.

Here’s the official line about Bird Mancini for those of you who don’t know anything about us (and for those of you who do):

The Bird Mancini Band is a cosmopolitan fusion of blues-tinged rock, Latin-flavored bossa nova, country-folk balladry, and woolly psychedelia, with lush vocals, guitar, accordion, and a variety of percussion, bells and whistles. In recent years they’ve toured the West Coast and performed for the International Pop Overthrow Festival in Boston, NYC, and The Cavern Club in Liverpool, England. 2017 New England Music Awards nominees for “Best in State – Massachusetts” and ASCAP/Boston Music Award nominees, Bird Mancini were twice named among the Top 10 Year’s Best by Metronome Magazine. They’ve opened for Leon Russell, David Crosby, Joan Osborne, Gregg Allman, Jonathan Edwards, The Stompers, The Outlaws and others.

The band features Ruby Bird-vocals, accordion, melodica, harmonica, percussion; Billy Carl Mancini-vocals and guitar; Joel White-bass; and Joe Jaworski on drums, cajon and percussion.
